History of our Parish

Fr. Con McGillicuddy was appointed priest in charge of developing a Christian Community in Jobstown in 1979. In 1979, Dublin Corporation had plans to relocate 1,800 families from different parts of the city to Jobstown. When Fr. Con arrived in 1979 he was coming to a building site, no school, church or shops. His primary objective was to build a church and a school for the many families who were about to take up residence in Jobstown. He set out on his mission with the help of very motivated parents and Religious Sisters to build the church and the school.

He acquired seven and a half acres of land for his project and with a lot of hard work and determination from the local families and Religious Sisters they achieved their objective. The Catholic faith to this present day is still being handed on through the hard work of our teachers, Religious Sisters, Pastoral Worker and families. May the Holy Spirit continue to bless all that is happening in the Parish of St. Thomas the Apostle in Jobstown.
